Meets and News

Periodically, there will be news we want to share with members, guests, and family. Visit this website periodically to get updates on the VFA, its people, birds, and dogs.
​For 2025, the picnic is set for Saturday August 9, location TBD.

February Meet 2019 - Blacksburg February 15-17

The VFA's February 2019 meet will be held in the Blacksburg and Christansburg area the weekend of February 15-17.

Marc Manley is spearheading this meet on our behalf. As always, arrive early and get permission for the best fields you can find.

This event is for permitted falconers and their explicitly invited guests only.

Dates: 15-17 February 2019
Locations: VFA Headquarters will be located in the Days Inn Conference Center in Blacksburg

Schedule:

Friday 15 February        
Noon – Meet Starts – individual/informal hawking groups
6:00 PM – Meet at VFA Headquarters room for informal dinner parties
8:00 PM – Officers & Directors Closed Meeting (VFA Board only)

Saturday 16 February         
8:00 AM – Breakfast – informal groups
9:00 AM – Meet in motel rear lot for group picture
9:15 AM – Members with hawks and falcons and their invited guests meet in parking lot near Headquarters to  form hunting parties
Noon – Informal lunch & return to Days Inn to re-form hunting groups 
7:00 PM – VFA group dinner**, all Members & invited guests at 
Bull & Bones Brewhaus & Grill

**remember to sign up for dinner @ HQ to be included in the headcount.
Presentations & Membership Meeting during dinner

Sunday 17 January       
8:00 AM - Informal breakfast
9:00AM - Members with hawks and falcons and their invited guests meet in parking lot near Headquarters to  form hunting parties
Noon – Lunch and Re-form hunting groups or depart for home

Meet is completed as/when members and their guests return home

Notes:

We strongly suggest you arrive on Friday in time to find hunting sites and acquire permissions.​ Please sign the attendance sheet provided on the Headquarters door and indicate on the other sheet all quarry taken during the meet.
If you take quarry on Sunday after you depart, you should inform Marc Manley: [email protected]

Failure to inform the meet director that you intend to be included in the Saturday dinner could lead to your exclusion from the group due to space constraints. Please do not forget to sign the dinner sheet at Headquarters. ​
