Meets and News

Periodically, there will be news we want to share with members, guests, and family. Visit this website periodically to get updates on the VFA, its people, birds, and dogs.
For 2025, the picnic is set for Saturday August 9, Lake Arrowhead, Luray. A flyer will be posted on this website with times and menu options once we get closer to August. Check this website in the morning of the picnic to make sure we have not moved the picnic to an indoor venue because of inclement weather or other issues.
Also, the VFA has been featured in Virginia Living Magazine and copies can be obtained at:

Dear Members and Friends of the VFA -

As you know, much of our operating needs are partially met by money bid at the Annual Fundraising Auction. These funds, along with your membership dues, help offset expenses of the two/three field meets as well as the picnic, subscriptions for Square and other online services, and all the costs surrounding publishing the annual HawkTalk Journal.

Every year, your directors and officers solicit donations of auction items from corporate vendors. We hope they will come through in a big way, but as we all know, times are tight and businesses often don’t have anything to spare for US clubs' many requests for donations.

So we have a special reminder for you:

If you make stuff — if you take great photos — if you draw, sketch, or paint — if you make frames or cut mats for artwork — if you have old stuff (in good condition) that you’re not using any more — if you have duplicate copies of excellent books or beautiful journals — if you’ve found a great tool, box, set of falconry/bird cards, beating stick, raw material for what you make, or a company/source for something you have loved — please consider donating something to our Auction.

If you’re willing to photo or draw a pet or a bird; if you want to offer another service (like matting or framing, or knitting something specific to a buyer’s desires) that needs to be “customized” for the purchaser, please consider making up a service certificate (include a guesstimate of the retail value of this service on the certificate) and donate that for people to consider bidding on.

Please help out in any little way you think you’re able to donate. Every item and every certificate counts.

Thanks!
VFA Board of Directors
