Meets and News

Periodically, there will be news we want to share with members, guests, and family. Visit this website periodically to get updates on the VFA, its people, birds, and dogs.
For 2025, the picnic is set for Saturday August 9, Lake Arrowhead, Luray. A flyer will be posted on this website with times and menu options once we get closer to August. Check this website in the morning of the picnic to make sure we have not moved the picnic to an indoor venue because of inclement weather or other issues.
Also, the VFA has been featured in Virginia Living Magazine and copies can be obtained at:

2015 VFA Permitted Falconers Meet
Friday, December 11th through Sunday 13th

Graves Mountain Lodge
Syria, Virginia
http://www.gravesmountain.com/

Following on the successful tradition established in Natural Bridge, this year the club is testing out a new venue for its annual permitted falconers meet. Graves Mountain Lodge is a rustic resort in Syria, Virginia on the eastern edge of the Shenandoah National Park.

The owners have opened up their 1800 acres to us for hunting our hawks. In addition to that property, the rural farming area is ideal for establishing new relationships with local landowners.

Graves Mountain is offering us an entire lodge building for our use and all meals through the weekend. There are 16 rooms available and reservations are on a first-come-first-served basis. Permitted falconers and their personal guests are welcome to attend this year’s meet.

Reservations
Please call the Lodge directly on 540-923-4231 to make reservations under the group Virginia Falconers' Association.

Club Discounted All-Inclusive Package Pricing
We have negotiated the cost down to the lowest possible pricing on your behalf, and this deal has been set up especially for this event. Hence it is NON-NEGOTIABLE.

There are two all-inclusive choices per person:
1) Arrive Friday with Dinner
Two nights’ accommodations, Breakfast Lunch & Dinner Saturday, and Breakfast & Lunch on Sunday: $175 per person.

2) Arrive Friday without Dinner
Including dinner on Friday night: $195 per person.

FYI – this may sound like a lot, but it’s a great deal for members. For example
          $175 = ($75 x 2 nights) + (5 meals at an average cost of $7 each)
               $195 = ($75 x 2 nights) + (6 meals an average cost of $9 each)

Schedule
The meet officially starts at noon on Friday, December 11 and ends when you return home on Sunday, December 13.
